Photos have been added!!! Check out past few entries, sorry for the delay!
Ah anjuna beach, goa. Home to hippies, ravers, far too many bad drugs, lots of tourists, insanity, and goa trance. Also, one of the top crazy places to spend new years eve. Jake and I made a goa game plan in preparation for our time here. It had maps, diagrams, things to do in case I went off and started a drum circle in the middle of the woods and got lost- you know, anything can happen. But keeping in Goa spirit, things didn't turn out as planned. My stomach track record in India was broken on New Years Eve due to some bad penne vegetable pasta at a restaurant called Sound of the Waves (don't eat there!!) So our new years was a little tame, but it was still pretty sweet (and thank you Jake for staying with me and getting me out of the room!!) We ended up walking down to the beach and found this big bonfire with lots of folks hanging out. We even ran into a south african guy we met that morning at breakfast who was also suffering from some bad food. Oy. Anyways, we counted down to midnight, said 'rabbit rabbit' (Jake says it's good luck), and watched an insane 360 degree firework show that lasted for over an hour (it was like a constant firework finale going on all sides... Never seen that many fireworks in my life!!)
For the past couple days, we've been taking it easy (I still can't handle too much food), and today we found a place to live for the next month. It's called GloryLand, it's very Christian (might as well experience ALL religions to the extreme while we're here in India), but it's super cheap, right next to the beach, right across from the Anjuna market, and is clean, with access to kitchen and a fridge with gas. There's also a fruit and vegetable stand and Ayurvedic doctor and massage place right down the road. You would be amazed at how many guest houses thought kitchen meant counter top (no fridge, no gas). We really want to be able to cook for ourselves since the restaurant food has not been treating us so well. Plus, we want to put those cooking classes to use! I'll be doing lots of Yoga, and we found a place where we can work with street children as well. So it looks like things may work out for us in Goa, but for us you just never know, so we'll just keep on keepin' on for the moment.

Sara - the pics are wonderful. I wouldn't worry about making a fashion statement if I were you! Glad to hear you're doing OK. I know your family can't wait to see you. We missed seeing you at the Holidays - it just wasn't the same without you. Stay well & take care of yourself. Best - Phyllis
